For Emma Kluge, wine has always been about more than what’s in the glass. A fifth-generation California farmer, Emma grew up working on her family’s vineyard in the Mayacamas north of Napa. Her background in geology, hydrogeophysics, and volcanic geochemistry eventually led her around the world. From California to New Zealand and Germany, where she worked in the vineyards of the Mosel River Valley and rediscovered her love of wine.Today, Emma works as a geothermal exploration geologist while tending her family vineyard in her free time. With her WSET II certification and a deep understanding of the relationship between soil, water, climate, people, and place, she offers a uniquely personal way to experience wine.
